Short description | OrCam MyEye consists of a pair of glasses with in- built optical character recognition software that enables blind or visually impaired people to convert visual data into spoken words. The user scans the words and these are then read into the earpiece. This can be useful for reading signs, menus or maps when travelling. |
Long description | The OrCam MyEye has advanced technology that can read signs, small print and emails. The device is also capable of recognising money, people, barcodes and many other things. Not only can one read things at any time, but one can also help people with difficulties to be independent when travelling alone. The company’s idea is to make travelling alone possible for people with visual impairments. The device serves as a travelling companion and makes it possible to read out any kind of information needed while in another city. For people with a visual impairment, travelling solo can be a very rewarding experience as it offers a unique experience, a different perspective and allows them to grow personally. |
