BUILDING A SMART COMMUNITY GROUP: STAKEHOLDERS IN FOCUS

SMART INCLUSIVE webinar was designed as a capacity-building activity to involve tourist industry workers and community organisations in the discussion on how technology and digital tools can enhance social impact, inclusivity, and accessibility of tourism offerings.

The International online event “How can we make tourism truly inclusive, accessible, and sustainable — for everyone” was organised by DomSpain on 28 May 2025, with more than 50 participants from and outside the project consortium.

The webinar was opened with the presentation of the SMART INCLUSIVE project, its main activities and results, followed by the presentations of three committed professionals:

  • Marco De Cave, Project Manager and Educator with a background in peace and development work (Italy), with the presentation “Digital, Memory and Wellness: Participatory Patterns of Experiential Tourism in Cori”;
  • Stelena Angelova, Accessible Tourism Consultant at IMPULSA IGUALDAD – TUR4all; expert in Smart Tourist Destinations and Accessible Planning (Spain), with the presentation: “Accessible Tourism as a Right and an Opportunity”, which included a live demo of the TUR4all platform and travel agency model;
  • Gabriele Uzzo, Accessibility Manager and R&D Coordinator at SudTitles; researcher and lecturer in audiovisual translation and inclusive communication (Italy), with the presentation: “Inclusive Communication as a Basis for Accessible Tourism”, which included actionable strategies for websites, signage, apps, and media.”

The webinar successfully served as a valuable capacity-building platform, bringing together industry professionals and community organisations to explore best practices across the tourism eco-system and enhance sustainability in tourism. The practical insights and strategies from expert speakers inspired attendees to foster more inclusive, accessible, and sustainable tourism experiences. The partners look forward to continuing this dialogue and advancing inclusive tourism practices across sectors and borders.
